Dear Prayer Warriors and Friends of Love on The World Ministry,
Today, our hearts turn towards **Colombia**, a vibrant nation in South America, rich in culture, history, and a deep spiritual heritage. While Catholicism has long been the dominant faith, Colombia is currently experiencing a dynamic shift in its religious landscape, marked by significant growth within Protestant and Evangelical communities. This spiritual awakening presents both incredible opportunities and pressing challenges for the Church.
**A Glimpse into Colombia's Spiritual Heart**
Colombia is a nation where faith runs deep. Approximately **88.5%** of its population identifies as Christian, translating to an estimated **46.6 million** believers. While Roman Catholicism accounts for the majority, around 78.2%, the Evangelical and Protestant presence is robust and growing, making up about 14.4% of the population. Major denominations include Roman Catholic, Evangelical, Pentecostal, Charismatic Evangelicals, Seventh-day Adventist, Methodist, Anglican, and Presbyterian churches. The overall trend for the church in Colombia is **growing**, with a particularly strong surge in Evangelical movements, and even the Catholic Church experiencing a renewed vitality.
However, amidst this spiritual fervor, there are still significant spiritual frontiers. Colombia is home to numerous **unreached people groups**, particularly indigenous tribes nestled within its dense jungles and vast savannas. Groups like the Ica, Arhuaco, Epera, and Yari represent communities who have had little to no exposure to the Gospel message. These are precious souls waiting to hear the life-changing news of Jesus Christ.
**Five Urgent Prayer Points for Colombia**
1. **For the Church:** Pray for the Church in Colombia to be a beacon of hope and light, boldly proclaiming the Gospel and demonstrating Christ's love through tangible acts of service and justice. May they be united in purpose and fervent in spirit. 2. **For the Lost:** Pray for the lost in Colombia, especially among the unreached indigenous tribes, that their hearts would be open to hear and receive the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. Ask God to send laborers into these harvest fields. 3. **For Government and Leaders:** Pray for the government and leaders of Colombia, that they would govern with wisdom, integrity, and a commitment to justice, protecting religious freedoms and promoting peace throughout the nation. 4. **For Specific Challenges:** Pray for an end to the violence, poverty, and corruption that plague parts of Colombia, and for the Church to rise up as agents of transformation and healing in their communities. May God's peace prevail. 5. **For Revival and Awakening:** Pray for a powerful spiritual revival and awakening to sweep across Colombia, bringing widespread repentance, reconciliation, and a renewed passion for God's presence and purposes, transforming individuals and society.
**How You Can Get Involved**
Your partnership is vital in reaching the people of Colombia for Christ. Here are three specific ways you can make a difference:
1. **Support Indigenous Missions:** Invest in and support indigenous missionary efforts and church planting initiatives focused on reaching unreached people groups in remote areas of Colombia. These local workers are often best positioned to make a lasting impact. 2. **Partner for Holistic Transformation:** Partner with organizations providing humanitarian aid and community development programs that integrate spiritual outreach and discipleship. Addressing physical and spiritual needs together creates powerful change. 3. **Commit to Prayer:** Commit to consistent prayer for Colombia, specifically for the prayer points outlined above. Consider joining a short-term mission trip to serve alongside local ministries and witness God's work firsthand.
**Key Ministry Organizations:**
Organizations like ABWE, Christ for the City International, and Cru Colombia are actively working on the ground, making a significant impact. They are excellent avenues for partnership and support.
**A Scripture for Colombia:**
**Psalm 33:12 - Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!** This powerful verse reminds us that true blessing and heritage for Colombia come from recognizing the Lord as their God. We pray for the nation to fully embrace this truth, that every Colombian heart would turn to Him, and that His blessings would flow abundantly throughout the land.
Let us stand together in faith, believing for a mighty move of God in Colombia. Your prayers and support are making an eternal difference!
