By ·

Bible verses about anxiety and worry, grouped by theme — God's presence, peace, provision and rest — with simple ways to pray them and when to get help.

Anxiety is not a sign that you lack faith. The Bible is full of people who were afraid, overwhelmed and sleepless — and of a God who met them there. These verses are not a quick fix, but they are true, and praying them slowly can steady a racing heart.

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

When you feel overwhelmed

Philippians 4:6–7 — "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Psalm 55:22 — "Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you."

Psalm 94:19 — "When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy."

Psalm 61:2 — "I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I."

God is with you

Isaiah 41:10 — "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you."

Psalm 46:1 — "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."

Joshua 1:9 — "Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

Peace that Jesus gives

John 14:27 — "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you… Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

Isaiah 26:3 — "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you."

Matthew 11:28 — "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

John 16:33 — "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

Worry about tomorrow and provision

Matthew 6:26 — "Look at the birds of the air… your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"

Philippians 4:19 — "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus."

For sleepless nights

Psalm 4:8 — "In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety."

Psalm 121:3–4 — "He who watches over you will not slumber."

2 Timothy 1:7 — "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline."
